Emily’s Telehealth Victory
Together, we have already accomplished so much this year. But there is still so much work to be done. With you continued support, we can end 2020 by continuing to draw that circle around all those who need protection, healing and strength.
Emily’s story demonstrates the powerful transformation that takes place when we join together. Emily was plagued by mental health issues. Too anxious to sleep and entertaining suicidal thoughts, Emily enrolled in the LSS school-centered mental health program. LSS therapists and family coaches work with Emily on managing anxiety. They also meet with her teachers, guidance counselors, school administrators, and her family to educate, advocate, encourage and offer resources that will help with their understanding of Emily’s needs, as well as their own.
As the global pandemic closed school buildings and kept us from meeting with students and families at
schools and in their homes, donors like you rallied to support the LSS Response Fund which allowed us to
adapt to Telehealth. Thankfully there was not a lapse in support for Emily and her family. Our staff even virtually coordinated a medication trial with her pediatrician.
Now, for the first time in over a year, Emily is sleeping soundly and her suicidal thoughts have lifted. She is taking more interest in her schoolwork. Her appetite has improved and she feels more hopeful.
Please look into your heart and if you would like to help thousands of people like Emily find their way out of the darkness of despair to a new year of light, hope and well-being, donate now. On behalf of all those who are blessed by your benevolence, may the New Year bring you light, happiness and peace.
