Flood Update for Friday, June 20

Here is another update to keep you abreast of what is happening in the emergency phase of the flood disaster response. To date, FEMA has received nearly 9,000 tele-registrations from the nineteen federally-declared counties that include Columbia, Crawford, Dodge, Fond du lac, Grant, Green, Iowa, Kenosha, Marquette, Milwaukee, Racine, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Sheboygan, Vernon, Washington, Waukesha, and Winnebago. Please get the word out of how important this registration is to those that have been impacted in these counties. The FEMA Teleregistration and Helpline number is 800-621-FEMA, and the deadline is August 13, 2008.

Many counties (see below from Fond du Lac County) and communities have begun recovery efforts, but it is imperative that you call first before heading out to recovery sites. Organized teams are much easier to utilize and to control in this process. "211" is a great asset in finding out about community needs and recovery efforts. Please observe necessary expectations for each volunteer. Keep children out of the water. This isn't just river water; this is "who knows what" water and ecoli abounds! I have also included some helpful resources in the recovery below. Take care and have a safe and blessed weekend,
