LSS serves people of all faiths and backgrounds throughout Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and the world. Our staff of over 2,500 offers services at over 250 sites that can be categorized into the following areas:

  • Addictions & Corrections. Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) assessments, day treatment services, outpatient counseling, education, and support groups for people dealing with alcohol and drug abuse issues, as well as gambling addictions. In addition, LSS has outpatient and day treatment services involving youth and their families. In partnership with the Division of Community Corrections, Department of Health and Family Services, and Federal Bureau of Prisons, LSS provides an array of services including counseling, transitional living, case management, vocational training, primary and extended treatment for addictions and monitoring services for juveniles and adults.

  • Adoption. LSS offers domestic, international, and special needs adoption as well as birth parent counseling.

  • Counseling. Encompasses mental health and substance abuse services for children and adults. Trained professionals help our clients build resilience, facilitate recovery, and grow so they can live more fully in the community. Services are provided to individuals throughout the life span, partnering with organizations to meet the needs of the uninsured or underinsured, or people with lower incomes.

  • Children, Youth and Family Services. Family preservation, family outreach, delinquency intervention and prevention, early intervention for children with developmental delays or disabilities, services for runaway or homeless youth and their families, treatment foster care, adult correction services, refugee and immigrant services, educational programs, transitional housing, and treatment centers.

  • Housing Services. In cooperation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, LSS manages multiple subsidized housing units for older adults and people with developmental disabilities or serious and persistent mental illness. Rent for eligible residents is 30 percent of their adjusted gross income.

  • Older Adult Services. LSS offers adult day services, low-income housing and assisted living; assessment and case management; supportive home care; and information and referral.

  • Persons with Disabilities. Provides services to support people to be as independent in the community as possible. Services include homes for person with disabilities or mental health concerns and community support within people's own homes.  LSS also provides day services, representative payee, case management, and guardianship.

  • Prison Ministries. Prison Ministries focuses on the relationships between families and incarcerated individuals to help connect them in difficult situations.  LSS believes that maintaining the connection with families enables incarcerated individuals to have a successful return to a responsible and accountable environment, where families are supportive and a new future can be realized.  LSS sees a tremendous need to begin working with individuals who are incarcerated long before the re-entry time is realized.  Prison Ministries is the articulation of restorative justice to heal victims, families, communities and offenders.  This Line of Service is currently under development.

  • Urban Ministries. Services dedicated to alleviating the conditions associated with poverty, homelessness and disaster by providing individuals with their most basic needs of shelter, food, clothing and hope, as well as the resources to become self-sufficient.
